In this article we will mention different methods to solve the problem. So, we suggest you to open the website mentioned above and check every time to make sure the problem is solved.

Before starting the solution lets’ discuss what is causing the problem.

Why does Discord No Route , RTC Connecting Discord , ICE Checking happen?

The specific reason for the discord no route, RTC connecting discord, ICE checking error is unknown. But after discussing with the community members who faced this error we concluded some of the possibilities which are:

  1. Using VPN which doesn’t have UDP Connection as discord doesn’t run on the VPN which doesn’t support the UDP connection.
  2. The IP address assigned with your PC has changed which causes your resources to stuck.
  3. Your network admin has blocked the discord.
  4. You are using third party antivirus or firewall which is blocking the discord connection.

  6. The server’s voice region is not compatible

Solutions for Discord No Route

We know you are here to know the solution not to check what are the reason behind the problem. Not everyone want to know the reason behind them and find the solution themselves. So I won’t explain much about the reason. Lets’ move into the solution to solve “Discord no route” , “RTC Connecting Discord” or ICE Checking.

Solution 1 : Restart Computer and Router

Yeah, you heard it right. This may sound crazy but the solution to most of the computer problem is a simple restart. Even if feel like this doesn’t solve your problem it worth testing because it takes only 2-3 minutes to restart the computer and router.

Restarting the computer and router fixes the problem because the dynamic IP (frequently changing IP) of your device and interrupt the IPV6 connection of your device because of which you are seeing the errors like “Discord no route” , “RTC Connecting Discord” or “ICE Checking”.

To restart the computer you can go to Start -> Power -> Restart.

If you want to feel more like a computer geek you can restart the computer like this:

  1. Open the run command. You can do so by pressing “Control + R” in your keyboard
  2. Once the run dialog is open type “cmd” and hit enter

  3. After opening the cmd type “shutdown /r” and hit enter. (The /r parameter in shutdown will restart your computer)

Alternatively, you can enter “shutdown /r” in step 2 once you open the run dialog.

After restarting the PC restart the wifi router. To do so simply unplug and plug the router from the main power source.

Solution 2: Checking the VPN

As method in the reason for discord no route, RTC connecting discord, ICE checking error section, VPN without UDP connection also causes them. So, if you are connecting via any VPN it is better to disconnect from VPN.

After disconnecting from the VPN, open discord app and check whether it shows the discord no route, RTC connecting discord or ICE checking error.

We understand sometimes you need to use VPN because of some geo-restriction or because of privacy issue. If you have to use the VPN then we suggest using VPNs with UDP connection. We suggest the following VPNs:

  1. Nord VPN
  2. Surfshark VPN
  3. Express VPN
  4. CyberGhost VPN
  5. IpVanish VPN
  6. Private VPN

You can use any of the VPN mentioned above they work just fine in Discord without discord no route, RTC connecting discord or ICE checking error.

Solution 3: Flushing the DNS

Some  people in our community has reported that flushing the dns has solved their discord no route, RTC connecting discord or ICE checking error permanently while others mentioned that they have to flush their DNS frequently to solve the problem.

Flushing the DNS may solve the discord no route, RTC connecting discord or ICE checking error because it clears all the cache files stored by the operating system which contains the log of website you have visited and so on.

Who cares if you have to do once of couple of days in a day when it solved the most frustrating problem of Discord. Follow the steps below to flush the dns.

  1. Like in the previous step open the run command. You can do so by pressing “Control + R” in your keyboard.
  2. After opening the run enter “cmd”

Discord No Route | RTC Connecting Discord | ICE Checking

  3. Once you have opened the cmd. type “ipconfig /flushdns” and hit enter.

Discord No Route | RTC Connecting Discord | ICE Checking - Flush DNS
Discord No Route | RTC Connecting Discord | ICE Checking – Flush DNS

That’s all for flushing the dns. Now go back to discord and check whether the problem is fixed or not. If the problem is not fixed yet then follow the next step.

Assigning New IP Address

As mentioned “IP Address” is main reason for our discord no route, RTC connecting discord or ICE checking error. So we can try assigning new IP Address to our machine to check whether it solve the problem or not.

Here is how you can assign new ip address.

  1. Like in the previous step open the run command. You can do so by pressing “Control + R” in your keyboard.
  2. After opening the run enter “cmd”

Discord No Route | RTC Connecting Discord | ICE Checking – Release ip

As you can see in the screenshot above there is nothing in “Connection-specific DNS Suffix” and “Default Gateway”. This is because we just release our IP Adress

  4. After releasing the IP Address enter “ipconfig /renew” to assign new IP Address to your machine.

Discord No Route | RTC Connecting Discord | ICE Checking - Assign ip
Discord No Route | RTC Connecting Discord | ICE Checking – Assign ip

Thats all you have success fully assigned new IP Address to your computer now you can open check the discord either the problem is solved or not.

You can also try flushing the DNS after step 3 and 4 to make sure there isn’t any residue of cache from the old IP Address.

If this also doesn’t solve your problem move on to the next step.

Solution 4 :  Changing browser

Sometime discord no route, RTC connecting discord or ICE checking error is caused by the browser of application itself rather than any other issues. So if you are using Discord app and seeing the issue its better to check whether there is same problem on browser as well or not.

If you are using browser then shift to another browser or Desktop application to check whether there is still issue or not.

About 80% of the issue is caused by the clients application, so the problem is fixed after changing the browser or application then simply uninstall the browser or application and reinstall it.

Solution 5 : Checking the QoS

Discords uses the “High Quality Package” to transmit the audio so that there is no lag in the performance but the Quality of Service (QoS) sometimes doesn’t work as it should for some routers which causes discord no route, RTC connecting discord or ICE checking error. So to solve the problem we can disable the Discord QoS.

Follow the steps to disable Discord QoS:

  1. Open the discord and select the setting tab on the right bottom side near the username.

Discord No Route | RTC Connecting Discord | ICE Checking - Discord setting
Discord No Route | RTC Connecting Discord | ICE Checking – Discord setting

  2. Then click on “Voice and Video” on the left side of the panel.

Discord No Route | RTC Connecting Discord | ICE Checking – Disable QoS

After disabling the QoS go back to your discord audio channel and connect. Now the problem of discord no route, RTC connecting discord or ICE checking error should be fixed.

If the problem is still not fixed we have to check whether the Network Manager has disabled the Discord or not.

Solution 6 : Checking Network Manager and Changing DNS

If you are in college, school or office network then maybe the Network manager has disabled or blocked the Discord use in their network to prevent it from using during school or office hour.

If thats the case we can easily bypass this using simple DNS trick. Even if Discord is not blocked by the Network Admin , sometimes because of the DNS of your internet you are unable to connect to Discord audio channel. To fix this as well you can change your DNS to Google DNS or Cloudflare DNS.

Google DNS:

Preferred: 8.8.8.8
Alternate: 8.8.4.4

OpenDNS

Preferred: 208.67.222.222
Alternate: 208.67.220.220

Cloudflare DNS

Preferred: 1.1.1.1
Alternate: 1.0.0.1

Above I have mentioned the DNS of some famous provider. We can use these DNS to fix the issue on Discord. To change the DNS in your windows 10 follow the steps.

  1. Open the Control Panel. You can do this by typing “Control Panel” in the search bar or run.

  5. In the properties window double click on “Internet Protocol Version 4”

Discord No Route | RTC Connecting Discord | ICE Checking - IPV4 Setting
Discord No Route | RTC Connecting Discord | ICE Checking – IPV4 Setting

  6. Now in the DNS section select “Use the following DNS server address” and enter any of the DNS mentioned above. For this tutorial I will be using the Cloudflare DNS.

Discord No Route | RTC Connecting Discord | ICE Checking - DNS setup
Discord No Route | RTC Connecting Discord | ICE Checking – Properties

  7. Now click on “Ok” and you have successfully change the DNS server.

After changing the DNS server I suggest Restarting the computer followed by flushing the DNS and assigning New Ip address.

Once you have change the DNS server problem of discord no route, RTC connecting discord or ICE checking error should be fixed. If this also still doesn’t solve the problem continue to next step.

Solution 7 : Whitelisting Discord in Windows Firewall and Disable 3rd Party Antivirus

If you are using 3rd party antivirus in windows 10 you should stop using it. As it only will slow down your machine. The Window Defender in Window 10 is way better than any 3rd part antivirus.

If you are not using Windows 10 you should whitelist Discord in your antivirus. The steps are different for different antivirus. So, look at the FAQ section of the antivirus website or comment down below we will post the steps for whitelisting the application for the antivirus you have mentioned. In this article we will discuss about whitelisting in windows defender.

Follow the steps below to whitelist Discord in Window 10.

  1. Click on the start menu and then the setting gear icon at the left most panel of the start menu.

Discord No Route | RTC Connecting Discord | ICE Checking - Setting
Discord No Route | RTC Connecting Discord | ICE Checking – Setting

  2. In the settings click on “Update and Security”

Discord No Route | RTC Connecting Discord | ICE Checking - Update and security

  3. Then click on window defender followed by “Open window defender security centre”

Discord No Route | RTC Connecting Discord | ICE Checking - Window defender
Discord No Route | RTC Connecting Discord | ICE Checking – Window defender

  4. Select the little wifi signal in the left hand side and click on “Allow File through Firewall”

Discord No Route | RTC Connecting Discord | ICE Checking - Window defender
Discord No Route | RTC Connecting Discord | ICE Checking – Firewall

  5. Once the Setting dialogue is opened click on “Change Settings” and search for Discord in it. Once you find the discord tick on the “Private”box and thats it.

Now it should fix the discord no route, RTC connecting discord or ICE checking error. If you are viewing the error message even after following all of the method mentioned above you can check your connection whether your connection is working fine or not. If you don’t know how to check your connection you can check it in our old article here in which we have mentioned how to check your connection and how to fix the connection problem.
