According to Google, Phishing is the fraudulent practice of sending emails purporting to be from reputable companies in order to induce individuals to reveal personal information, such as passwords and credit card numbers. {“an email that is likely a phishing scam”}. In 2019 identifying the phishing is one of the main challenge to protect yourself from hackers. So in this post we will tell you how to identify the phishing email.

1. If there is any file or link in the email check the link once before clicking it.

You can do so by hovering your mouse about the link. In the screen shot below it says “Open in Docs”. But while hovering mouse above the link we can see that it leads us to malicious site i.e https://drive-google.com not the real google drive.

2. Check for the sender email.

Attacker tries to makes their email to look as real but deep analyzing on the email address of the email we can detect either it is Phishing email or not. Bellow is the screen shot of email that i received. I almost fall for the trick but after some analysis I saw the sender email as “google.support”. Google never send the email from this address. This is almost identical to an attack used to successfully hack politicians’ emails. Always be sure to check URLs carefully!

If you focused on this things then you can be safe from Phishing email.

How to Detect either the website is phishing or not?

If it asks for your facebook password and email then enter your correct facebook email but enter the wrong password as “123456789”. If no error shows then obviously thats the phishing website. Just move away from that site and if it gives error like wrong password or something like that try “n3p4l$123”. Some times their algorithm may check the complexity of password and gave that error. If you use “n3p4l$123” and still face error then the site is legitimate and you can enter your correct password there. No need to worry about being hacked.

Hope this post will increase your security online. Keep tuned to get more awesome posts.
