How To Turn On Keyboard Light in Linux

Turn on keyboard light in Linux

Hey fellas! This is a short article on “How to Turn on Keyboard Light in Linux”. If you are new to Linux and you have recently bought a stunning new gaming keyboard or backlit keyboard. You may notice that the regular button present in keyboard for turning lights on and off doesn’t work in Linux.

To turn on the lights on your keyboard all you have to do is run a simple command. I myself have tried it and it works perfectly on Kali and Ubuntu. So, to turn on the backlight in your Linux machine open the terminal use the command:

xset led 3

This is all you need to do to turn on keyboard light in Linux.

Turning on the lights alone is not enough, you should be able to turn it off as well. This task is also as easy as turning the lights on. All you have to do is use the following command:

xset -led 3

Yup its just a small ‘minus’ between the initial command. And it is as easy as it looks.

Tip : Use keyboard shortcut ctrl+ alt +t to open the terminal
